US Homeland Security and Sonoran law enforcement have identified ten individuals through the "Se Busca Informacion" campaign, who are currently sought due to their association with transnational criminal organizations involved in human smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and murder.
John Modlin, US Border Patrol chief patrol agent for the Tucson sector, commented on the situation. He said, "We use every resource we have to locate and apprehend individuals who threaten our border communities and nation. Information gathered through the Se Busca initiative is extremely beneficial in this regard and it is a safe anonymous way for the public to assist law enforcement with keeping southern Arizona communities safe."
The initiative encourages members of the general public in Southern Arizona and Northern Sonora to report information about wanted criminals in both countries. It allows them to do so anonymously. According to a news release from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) dated May 9, there are two ways that individuals can report information: via phone at 520-310-5914 or via WhatsApp.
Francisco B. Burrola, Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Arizona, expressed his support for the initiative. He said, "Homeland Security Investigations is proud to support this initiative aimed at capturing dangerous fugitives of the law. The more widespread information is available, our chances of arresting these targets greatly increases. By partnering with CBP and other law enforcement agencies, we make communities safer."
The ten wanted individuals include Juan Carlos Morales Duarte (also known as "El Lupillo") for premeditated homicide; Antonio Castro Valenzuela ("El Castro/El Rabano") for homicide; Salud Francisco Hernandez ("El Ponchis") for homicide; German Hiram Robles Matas ("El Hiram" or "El Gallero") for premeditated homicide; Luis Osvaldo Wakamatzu ("El Waka") for kidnapping; Miguel Antonio Urbalejo for narcotics trafficking; Luis Alberto Lopez for child pornography; Jesus Julian Acuna Escobedo for narcotics trafficking, Gabriel Garcia for narcotics trafficking; and Omar Alejandro Sanchez, also for narcotics trafficking.
