The Tucson Rodeo Parade, celebrating its 100th anniversary, will take place on February 20, 2025. This marks the second year the parade will follow a new route due to restrictions from Union Pacific Railroad regarding crossing tracks on Ajo Way and Irvington Road near Park Avenue.
The City of Tucson and the Rodeo Parade Committee have collaborated with local residents and businesses to ensure the parade's continuation. The new route begins at 12th Avenue and Drexel Road, moves east on Drexel to S. Nogales Highway, turns north on S. Nogales Highway/S. 6th Avenue, crosses Irvington Road, and returns to the Rodeo Grounds.
"The City of Tucson and the Rodeo Parade Committee appreciate all of the support and understanding that our Tucson community residents and businesses provided," stated representatives from both entities.
The parade is scheduled from 9 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m., with road closures in effect from 7 a.m. until about 1 p.m. The affected area includes Irvington Road, 12th Avenue, Drexel Road, and S. Nogales Highway/S. 6th Avenue, impacting primarily the Sunnyside Neighborhood.
"The primary neighborhood area that is impacted is the Sunnyside Neighborhood," noted officials involved in planning.
Volunteers will assist along the route while emergency services coordinate access during the event. Residents are advised to plan accordingly if they need to leave or enter the area during closure hours.
For those attending, grandstand tickets are sold out; however, free viewing is available along sidewalks adjacent to the route. "You can also attend and view the event for free from the sidewalk," organizers mentioned.
Transportation services like Sun Tran will operate with detours expected due to road closures. Information regarding parking options is available through various channels including KOLD 13 News broadcasts for those unable to attend in person.
