Two thousand eight hundred undocumented migrants were apprehended from September 28 to October 4, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Tucson Sector Chief John R. Modlin's October 4 post on X.
According to Modlin's post, agents in the CBP Tucson sector disrupted 24 human smuggling events, seized two firearms and $4,500, and made two significant arrests.
Modlin said that agents had 254 federal criminal cases accepted during the week of October 4. A graphic included in his post on X indicated there were 1,032 federal cases adopted from the sector in September and 1,048 in August 2024. During the 2023 fiscal year, there were 391 cases accepted in September and 452 accepted in August.

For the month of September 2024, there were reportedly 10,200 apprehensions of undocumented migrants in the Tucson Sector compared to 48,700 in the same month during the previous fiscal year.
The U.S. Border Patrol is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security responsible for safeguarding the nation's borders and preventing illegal entry of people and contraband. Established in 1924, it operates at 328 ports of entry and protects approximately 7,000 miles of land borders and around 95,000 miles of maritime borders.
