During the week ending March 29, the U.S. Border Patrol's Tucson sector apprehended 7,200 illegal immigrants.
This information was reported by John R. Modlin, Chief Patrol Agent, on a platform referred to as X. According to Modlin's post on X, agents rescued five individuals, made four significant arrests and seized four firearms. They identified 23 human smuggling events and were involved in 208 federal criminal cases.
Modlin also provided a comparative graphic of the total number of apprehensions in the Tucson sector for fiscal years 2023 and 2024. "During the same week in 2023, agents had 8,000 apprehensions," he said. In contrast, there were 7,400 apprehensions during the previous week in 2024. Furthermore, during that same week in 2023, agents made 9,000 apprehensions according to the graphic posted on X.

The U.S. Border Patrol is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security tasked with preventing terrorists and their weapons from entering the United States.
