Governor's Office of Highway Safety - Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant

Tucson Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

The Tucson Police Department is proud to announce the acceptance of a $15,000 Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

The grant funding will be utilized to enforce pedestrians, bicycles, and related vehicular traffic violations to include, midblock crossing, speeding, distracted driving, alcohol/drug impairment and other violations within the city limits. The goal is to reduce pedestrian and bicycle collisions and provide a safe environment for all roadway users. Approximately 64 deployments, both day and evenings, will be scheduled at different locations throughout the end of 2021 and through 2022.

The Tucson Police Department is grateful to the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for its continued support in helping to make our roadways a safer place to travel. Any questions regarding the grant or scheduled deployments may be directed to the Tucson Police Public Information Office.
