Moms for Liberty has endorsed Esteban Flores in his race for a seat on the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) Governing Board. Early voting began on October 9 and extends through November 1 for the November 5 general election.
According to his campaign website, Flores is running for TUSD Governing Board because he wants "to represent the families of TUSD and the children well with conviction, strong leadership, and love for my city."
Flores' top policy priorities are preserving and increasing parental involvement with and parental rights in education, eliminating the teaching and implementation of radical gender ideology, increasing transparency with regard to educational materials and curricula, and restoring an emphasis on American civics and academic achievement.
Flores is a South Tucson native and TUSD alumnus. He studied nursing at the University of Arizona and went on to work as a medical technician in numerous areas of medicine, including endoscopy. He also earned an associate of liberal arts and general studies degree from Pima Community College, which he is using to pursue a biblical studies degree in order to devote himself to ministry full-time. He and his wife have a six-year-old daughter.
Per the TUSD Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered so that two or three members are elected every two years.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
