Arturo "Arte" Moreno was born on August 14, 1946, in Tucson, Arizona. His parents were Mexican immigrants who sought a better life in the United States. Moreno grew up in Tucson, where he attended local schools and developed a strong work ethic.

After graduating from high school, Moreno enrolled at the University of Arizona. He earned a degree in marketing. His career began in advertising, where he gained valuable experience. In 1984, Moreno co-founded Outdoor Systems, a billboard advertising company. The company grew rapidly and was sold to Infinity Broadcasting for $8 billion in 1999.

Moreno's most notable achievement came on May 15, 2003. He became the first Mexican-American to own a major sports team in the United States by purchasing the Anaheim Angels baseball team from the Walt Disney Company. His ownership marked a significant milestone in sports history. Moreno's impact on the team was immediate, with increased fan engagement and team success.
