Alexander Raymond Kellner Born on August 26, 1924 in Tucson

Alexander Raymond Kellner was born on August 26, 1924, in Tucson, Arizona. He was known for his career as a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball. Kellner played for the Philadelphia/Kansas City Athletics from 1948 to 1958, the Cincinnati Reds in 1958, and the St. Louis Cardinals in 1959. He batted right-handed and threw left-handed, which made him distinctive on the field. His younger brother, Walt, also pitched in the major leagues. After retiring from baseball, Kellner returned to Tucson, where he remained involved in the local baseball community. He shared his knowledge and experience with young players. Kellner passed away on May 3, 1996, but his contributions to baseball and his connection to Tucson continue to be remembered.
