WASHINGTON, DC – On April 26, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) voted against the extreme House Republican budget proposal dubbed the ‘Default on America Act’ (DOA).

“The House Republican budget would cripple our economy and hurt working families across Southern Arizona,” said Rep. Grijalva. “This extreme proposal will have consequences on every aspect of society: from laying off teachers to kicking families out of their homes, robbing food assistance from seniors to taking Medicaid away from underserved communities, slashing health care for veterans to losing millions of jobs. These radical cuts will reverse our climate progress and devastate the way of life for millions of Arizonans and people across the country. While extreme House Republicans play with American’s lives, House Democrats are ready to act now to prevent a devastating debt default that won’t risk our economy.”

Rep. Grijalva previously issued statements on how the extreme House Republican proposal would hurt Southern Arizona families:

Border Communities, Economy, Safety

Veterans, Underserved Communities and Health Care Access

Seniors

Child Care and Education

Climate and Environment
