In anticipation of the 2020 presidential preference election on March 17, officials are working to ensure that security is maintained at polling places.

Paper backups of the ballots will help guarantee the secure confirmation of election results, according to the Arizona Public Media.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs said that in addition to the security which paper backups afford, voters should also confirm their information about candidates prior to the election by checking the Secretary of State's website, as well as county recorders' websites.

With an estimated 70 to 80 percent of voters casting ballots through the mail, it will be imperative for polling volunteers to double check the signatures to confirm that they are similar to those on file and prevent fraud.

The Pima County Recorder F. Ann Rodriguez said that ballots will not ever be collected in person.

Voters can check their voter registration status on the County Recorder's website.

Finally, Arizona voters will have the chance to vote not just for a single candidate but to participate in ranked voting — selecting their first, second, third choices and so on — which provides more discretion to the voter rather than the conventional voting for and against approach.
