Two illegal immigrants arrested near Hereford, Ariz., after attempting to flee Border Patrol stop

Sean McGoffin, Tucson Sector Chief for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), announced the arrest of two illegal immigrants following a vehicle stop on January 20 near Hereford, Arizona. The driver involved in the incident is a registered sex offender with felony convictions and now faces human smuggling charges. This information was shared by McGoffin in a post on X on January 31.

According to McGoffin, the arrests were made by agents from the Bryan A. Terry CBP station, and the incident took place near Hereford, Arizona. He reiterated that the driver had a history of felony convictions.

The Tucson sector encompasses much of Arizona, stretching from the New Mexico border to Yuma County’s border, covering approximately 262 miles. It is staffed by about 3,700 agents across nine stations located in Why, Casa Grande, Douglas, Bisbee, Nogales, Sonoita, Tucson, Three Points, and Wilcox. This information is detailed on CBP’s webpage dedicated to the sector. Originally known as the Nogales Sector and established on July 1, 1924, its headquarters moved to Tucson two years later.
