Agents with the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Sonoita Station intercepted a migrant smuggling attempt on November 15, discovering three migrants in a vehicle, including one in the trunk. This information was shared in a November 21 post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the social media post, Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin said: "11/15: During a vehicle stop on SR-82, Sonoita Station agents discovered three smuggled migrants, including one concealed in the trunk. The US citizen driver and passenger were arrested along with the migrants. Smuggling organizations continue to put lives at risk for profit."

The Tucson sector encompasses much of Arizona, extending from New Mexico's border to Yuma County’s boundary, covering approximately 262 border miles. According to CBP's webpage dedicated to this sector, about 3,700 agents are stationed across nine locations: Why, Casa Grande, Douglas, Bisbee, Nogales, Sonoita, Tucson, Three Points, and Wilcox. Initially known as the Nogales Sector and established on July 1, 1924, its headquarters relocated to Tucson two years later.
