The City of Tucson has recently opened a new cooling center to provide residents with a safe and comfortable place to recover and relax during the heat. Two new “COOLtainers,” provided by the Arizona Department of Health Services and Arizona's Office of the Governor, were placed at the Amazon Shelter, located at 1135 W. Miracle Mile.

The Amazon is a shelter operated by the Housing First Division of the City of Tucson’s Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The Amazon cooling center is available from noon to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. It will operate until Saturday, Aug. 31.

In addition to the pods, HCD’s portable showers will be available at Amazon.
