The City of Tucson has released the preliminary draft of the Plan Tucson 2025 General Plan Update for public review and feedback. This draft outlines a comprehensive strategy for the city's growth and development over the next decade, focusing on environmental planning, cultural heritage, land use, transportation, parks, safety, economic development, water resources, and housing.
A virtual kickoff event is scheduled for Thursday, December 19, 2024. The session will provide an overview of the draft plan and offer attendees an opportunity to ask questions and learn how to submit their feedback during the winter season.
Community engagement is crucial in this process. Various methods are available for individuals to share their thoughts on the draft. These include hosting group discussions through "Meeting-in-a-Box" formats or participating in online surveys at one's convenience.
In addition to virtual engagement options, several community feedback forums will be held both in-person and virtually throughout January 2025 at different locations across Tucson. Dates include January 6th at Sentinel Building; January 8th at Donna Liggins Recreation Center; January 11th at Miller-Golf Links Library; January 13th virtually via Zoom; and January 16th at El Pueblo Activity Center.
Furthermore, two Planning Commission study sessions will precede a public hearing. The first session takes place on December 18, 2024.
