Nearly five thousand illegal immigrants were apprehended in the U.S. Border Patrol's Tucson Sector during the week ending June 21, 2024.
According to a June 21 post on X from Chief Patrol Agent John R. Modlin of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Tucson sector, "The 4,900 apprehensions this week is down from the same week in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, when agents apprehended 8,700 individuals." Modlin also noted that it is "down from last week, when CBP agents apprehended 6,900."
Modlin stated that agents were involved in four narcotics events and made four significant arrests. They rescued 46 people and disrupted 34 human smuggling events. Additionally, they had some involvement in 170 federal criminal cases.
