John R. Modlin, chief patrol agent, Tucson sector | X
During the week ending May 17, 2024, the US Border Patrol's Tucson sector apprehended 6,700 illegal immigrants.
John R. Modlin, Chief Patrol Agent of the sector, provided this information. He also noted that the number of apprehensions for the week was lower than that of the same week in the 2023 fiscal year when there were 8,700 apprehensions. Furthermore, it was a decrease from the previous week in the 2024 fiscal year when there were 7,300 apprehensions.
According to Modlin's post on X, US Customs and Border Protection agents carried out 18 rescues, seized five firearms and handled 24 human smuggling cases during this period. There were also 229 federal criminal cases in the sector during that week.
