U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents detained 7,900 illegal immigrants and intercepted 25 human smuggling events in the Tucson sector during the week ending May 3.

This information was revealed in a post by John R. Modlin, Chief Patrol Agent of the Tucson sector. Modlin's post also disclosed nine narcotics events, 217 incidents involving federal criminal cases, eight rescues, and the seizure of one firearm.

In April 2024, according to Modlin's post, the Tucson sector had accepted 968 federal criminal cases. This number represents an increase from the 889 accepted in March and significantly higher than February's figure of 684. The first week of April in fiscal year 2022-2023 saw a total of 444 cases.
