The City of Tucson's Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) is gearing up to celebrate the 44th Annual Building Safety Month this May. In collaboration with the International Code Council (ICC), the city aims to raise awareness about the significance of building codes in ensuring the safety of living and working spaces.

This year, the theme of Building Safety Month is "Mission Possible," emphasizing community involvement in upholding building safety standards. According to the International Code Council, the organization that spearheads this initiative, their goal is to provide codes, standards, and solutions that promote safe, affordable, and sustainable buildings and communities.

As part of the month-long campaign, Tucson residents are encouraged to participate by sharing safety tips and resources from the ICC. PDSD is calling on the community to join forces in advocating for building safety and updating codes to meet evolving needs.

In a statement, the International Code Council highlighted the importance of engaging the public in all aspects of building safety. The organization stressed the essential role that professionals play in ensuring that safety standards are adhered to year-round.

Building Safety Month serves as a platform to recognize and appreciate the dedication of individuals who work tirelessly to maintain and enforce building codes for the well-being of the community. Through education and outreach efforts, the City of Tucson aims to empower its residents to prioritize safety in their built environments.

For more information about Building Safety Month and how to get involved, interested individuals can visit the ICC's website. Additionally, for inquiries or to provide feedback, residents can contact the City of Tucson's Planning and Development Services Department by calling 311 or visiting Tucson 311 online.

As Building Safety Month kicks off, the City of Tucson looks forward to a month of raising awareness, fostering collaboration, and promoting a safer built environment for all.
