The City of Tucson has announced revisions to rates and fees for various services, including Planning and Development Services (PDSD), Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), and Tucson Fire. The proposed fee increases will be subject to a 60-day feedback period before the Mayor and Council Public Hearing on June 18, 2024.

According to the announcement, the development review fee increases will impact PDSD, DTM, and Tucson Fire, with a 3.5% increase in FY2025 and FY2026. PDSD services covered by the fees include staff review, building permits, valuation tables, site review, special district review, rezonings, and special exceptions. Similarly, DTM fees cover right-of-way permitting, small wireless facility fees, and annual permits for utilities and scooters. Tucson Fire fees encompass fire construction permit fees, fire review fees, and various operational permits.

In a call to action, the city invited stakeholders to review the proposed fee schedules and provide feedback through an online form. The statement read, "You are invited to review the Year One Proposed Redline Fee Schedule and the Year Two Proposed Redline Fee Schedule. We also ask the community to leave feedback via this online form."

During a recent meeting, Mayor and Council approved revisions to rates and fees for Tucson Parks and Recreation and Park Tucson, following an outreach process that identified inconsistencies in the fee structure. The engagement with the community and stakeholders led to a delay in the public hearing to allow for further input on the proposed development fee changes.

For those looking to engage with the city on these matters, the announcement provided avenues for communication, stating, "Ask a Question. Report an Issue. Submit a Suggestion. To contact us, call 311 or visit Tucson 311 to submit a request."

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the feedback process to ensure transparency and community involvement in the decision-making around the revised rates and fees for development services in the City of Tucson.
