The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) has announced a pre-construction open house for the Grant Road Phase 3 and 4 Improvement Project. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 4010 E Grant Road (vacant lot).

According to the DTM, the improvement project will involve widening Grant Road to six lanes, incorporating landscaped median islands, continuous sidewalks, indirect left turns at Alvernon Way, protected bike and pedestrian crossings, drainage improvements, and transit upgrades.

Granite Construction, working under contract with DTM, will commence the project at the beginning of May 2024. The public is encouraged to attend the open house to learn more about the project, view final plans, and receive updates on the schedule.

The Regional Transportation Authority, an entity that has invested over $1.4 billion in transportation projects and services, oversees the project as part of its 20-year regional transportation plan. The plan, funded by a half-cent excise tax, was approved by voters in May 2006.

For more information about the Grant Road Phase 3&4 Improvement Project and the Regional Transportation Authority, visit their respective websites at grantroad.info and www.RTAmobility.com. Additionally, individuals can contact the City of Tucson at 311 or visit Tucson 311 for inquiries, issues, or suggestions.

This pre-construction open house presents an opportunity for members of the public to engage with the project team, understand the upcoming improvements, and contribute to enhancing mobility, safety, and quality of life in the Tucson region.
