U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) has successfully secured $274,000 for flood mitigation in the town of Duncan in the FY24 appropriations package. Ciscomani expressed the significance of this funding, stating, “These dollars represent a crucial investment in our agricultural and rural communities.”

The allocated funds will be utilized for the installation of 20 culverts to address ongoing flood issues in the Hunter Estates area and facilitate future paving of 21,100 linear feet of surface street for enhanced transportation and connectivity. Duncan, known for its predominantly undeveloped dirt roads, particularly in the Hunter Estates, faces significant maintenance challenges during rainy seasons.

Duncan Town Manager Terry Hinton commended Congressman Ciscomani for his efforts, stating, “Congressman Ciscomani has really been a big help to the Town of Duncan. We are very small and out of the way, so it is easy to forget about us. The Congressman took an interest in our problems and helped us get some much-needed funding. He has been a strong advocate for his district, and we really appreciate his help.”

In addition to the funding for Duncan, Ciscomani secured a total of $26 million for 13 projects across all counties in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. As the sole member of the Arizona delegation on the House Appropriations Committee, Ciscomani has demonstrated a commitment to advocating for his district and addressing the needs of rural communities.
