Border patrol agent at St. Luis Port of Entry seizes millions of fentanyl pills in five months

Border patrol agents operating at the San Luis Port of Entry, located in the Tucson sector, have reportedly intercepted drugs valued in millions of dollars since October. The jurisdiction of this sector extends across nine stations, from the Yuma County line to the border of New Mexico.

According to a March 14 post by Guadalupe H. Ramirez, Director of Field Operations in the Tucson sector, agents at the San Luis Port of Entry have seized approximately two million Fentanyl pills worth $3.5 million; 900 pounds of methamphetamine; and around 40 pounds of cocaine since October 2023.

Ramirez's post underscored significant seizures at the port of entry. In her post, she stated: "Our officers and specialists remain dedicated to safeguard our nation’s borders."

The U.S. Border Patrol is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security. Its primary role is to prevent terrorists and their weapons from entering the United States and to thwart illegal entry of people and contraband. Agents from this agency patrol nearly 6,000 miles of border between Mexico and Canada, as well as over 2,000 miles of coastal waters stretching from Florida to Puerto Rico. Established in 1924, it operates in 328 ports of entry and protects 7,000 miles of land borders along with 95,000 miles of maritime borders.
