The City of Tucson is actively engaging its residents in the creation of the 2025 fiscal year budget, set to commence on July 1, 2024. According to a statement released on March 18, 2024, community members are encouraged to participate in town hall meetings and provide their input through a budget engagement survey.
In a call to action, the Mayor and Council, along with City staff, expressed their eagerness for public involvement, stating, "Mayor and Council and City staff welcome you to be a part of the process by joining in one of the town hall meetings and filling out the budget engagement survey." These town hall meetings will feature informative presentations by staff members who will also be available to address questions from participants.
The City of Tucson aims to gather valuable insights from its residents regarding their spending priorities within the community. The budget engagement survey, accessible through a provided link, serves as a platform for individuals to voice their opinions on where financial resources should be allocated.
In addition to the virtual budget meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in-person meetings have been arranged for further public engagement. Residents can attend sessions on Wednesday, April 3, from 6-7 p.m., at El Rio Center, located at 1390 W. Speedway Blvd, and on Thursday, April 4, from 6-7 p.m., at the Ward 2 Office, situated at 7820 E. Broadway Blvd.
Furthermore, the City of Tucson encourages community members to actively participate by posing questions, reporting issues, or submitting suggestions, as highlighted in the statement, "Ask a Question. Report an Issue. Submit a Suggestion." For those interested in reaching out, the City provides the option to call 311 or visit Tucson 311 to submit requests for engagement.
As the City of Tucson endeavors to shape its 2025 fiscal year budget, residents are urged to take part in these upcoming opportunities for civic involvement and contribute to the decision-making process for community spending priorities.
