The City of Tucson has recently taken a significant step towards shaping the future of artificial intelligence by joining the GovAI Coalition, a network dedicated to responsible and purposeful AI use in the public sector. Chris Mazzarella, the chief information officer for the City of Tucson, expressed the city's enthusiasm, stating, "We are pleased to announce our engagement in the GovAI Coalition as an early contributing member."

The GovAI Coalition, which boasts over 400 public servants from more than 150 agencies, focuses on establishing standards for AI policies, procurement, implementation, and ensuring public privacy. By becoming a part of this initiative, Tucson aims to leverage best practices and access top talent in the country to drive ethical and effective design of AI for government use. Mazzarella highlighted the benefits of the partnership, emphasizing that it comes at no cost to citizens and will enable the city to introduce advanced AI technologies for the benefit of its residents and businesses.

The GovAI Coalition was initiated by the City of San José last year, and with the City of Tucson now on board, the coalition continues to grow in its mission to advance the use of AI in delivering government services responsibly.

For those looking to engage with the City of Tucson, inquiries, issues, or suggestions can be directed to Tucson 311 or by visiting the City of Tucson's office located at 255 W. Alameda St., Tucson, Arizona 85701.
