In June 2022, the Tucson Police Department (TPD) received two fully equipped Explosive Ordinance and Disposal (EOD) vehicles – thanks to Tucson Delivers/Safer City funding. Each Ford F-350 Super Duty Quad 4X4 vehicle offers officers – and K9 partners, if required - these critical features:

Front-facing winch to extract potential explosives from populated areas

On-board power inverter to charge batteries and extend reconnaissance drone flights. 

Rear passenger dog kennels with secure water bowl. 

Slide-out workbench and storage for easy access to technology & tools for field ops. 

TPD’s 9 teams of highly trained officers and K9s are available 24/7, ready, if called upon, to safely detect, disarm, and dispose explosive devices in transportation systems, public facilities, and events.
