A recent national poll has found that only three in 10 Americans believe President Biden and congressional Democrats are doing enough to stop inflation.
The poll, which was distributed by the Senate Opportunity Fund (SOF), was conducted March 15-17, 2022. It surveyed 800 general election-likely voters nationwide.
Sixty-one percent of the poll's respondents said they believe the administration is not doing enough to stop inflation. Of the respondents, 75% identified themselves as conservatives, 58% identified themselves as moderates and 39% identified as liberals.
A U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed that during the 12 months ending in February, overall annual inflation was running at nearly 8%, while the price of gasoline had gone up 38%.
Gasoline is a leading force behind consumer inflation, and the most recent Gas Misery Index estimated that the average American will pay $667 more for gasoline this year than in 2021, a Metro Business Daily report said.
Respected economists think Biden's spending plans could cause even higher inflation, opinions that may be contributing to the president's low polling numbers on the issue, a report from Fox Business said.
Arizona Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly and their Democratic colleagues voted to approve the president's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package last year, a report from AZ Central said.
"President Biden's inflation tax is costing the average household an extra $433 per month or $5,200 per year. #Bidenflation," U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tweeted recently.
