City of Tucson issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.
Join the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), and Pima County at a public meeting for the Silverbell Road Improvement Project, from Goret Road to El Camino del Cerro, on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. DTM staff and members of the project team will be in attendance to answer any questions about the project. Improvements include widening Silverbell Road to a four-lane, divided desert parkway (two lanes in each direction) that will include landscaped median islands, bike lanes, pedestrian facilities, upgraded drainage systems, traffic signal improvements, and art elements. Roadway improvements are scheduled to begin in fall 2022. Due to the El Tour De Tucson event that is also scheduled this Saturday, southbound Silverbell Road, from Ina Road to Goret Road, will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. To enter and exit Christopher Columbus Park, attendees will need to travel northbound on Silverbell Road. A virtual public meeting for this project will be held at a later date.
