Sonoita CBP agents arrest nine illegal aliens after vehicle stop

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents from the Sonoita Station have announced the arrest of nine individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally after they fled during a vehicle stop on April 12. The arrest was confirmed by Chief Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin in a post on X.

According to McGoffin, the nine individuals apprehended are now facing charges of alien inadmissibility, as well as illegal entry and re-entry. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Tucson Sector of CBP are collaborating to pursue all applicable charges.

The Sonoita Station, established in 1989, initially had seven agents along with a Patrol Agent in Charge. It is located 25 miles north of the border with Mexico and 49 miles southeast of the Tucson Sector headquarters. Agents assigned to this station are responsible for patrolling 24.9 miles of international border and nearly 1,000 square miles, according to information available on the CBP webpage dedicated to the station.
