U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani has marked the completion of the first 100 days of the 119th Congress, highlighting achievements aimed at benefitting Arizona's 6th Congressional District. Reflecting on his tenure, Ciscomani stated, "I hit the ground running in January, continuing on our success during my first term, serving our district and prioritizing the needs of our community."
He emphasized collaboration with President Trump on border security, passing legislation for veterans, tackling government inefficiencies, and returning nearly $3 million to constituents. Ciscomani expressed pride in appointing over 20 students to military academies and his effectiveness as a member of the Arizona congressional delegation.
Ciscomani's activities in the 119th Congress include ranking as the most effective member of Congress from Arizona during the previous session. As of this Congress, he returned $2.8 million in savings, with significant amounts benefiting veterans. He introduced 13 pieces of legislation and co-led or co-sponsored 107 others.
The congressman successfully passed two bills in the House: The Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act (H.R. 35), designed to penalize individuals involved in high-speed chases with border protection agents, which passed with bipartisan support, and The Prioritizing Veterans’ Survivors Act (H.R. 1228), ensuring benefits for surviving families of veterans, which passed unanimously.
Ciscomani engaged directly with his constituents through a telephone town hall and activities like a delegation trip to the Arizona-Mexico border. He expressed his advocacy for Medicaid, SNAP benefits, and Pell Grants, sharing his personal experience as a recipient. His leadership roles include Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
Furthermore, he took steps towards securing water rights for indigenous tribes through proposed legislation and involved stakeholders by hosting various meetings, attending events, and delivering speeches.
