Agents with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Tucson sector announced the arrest of an Arizona man on March 18 after he reportedly drove away from CBP officers with four illegal aliens in his vehicle. This information was shared in a post by Chief Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin on March 27.

According to McGoffin, the driver fled from agents but was eventually stopped by a spike strip. A foot chase ensued, involving K9 units, and all suspects were apprehended. The four illegal aliens will be processed for removal, while the driver faces charges for human smuggling and will be prosecuted. The incident is under investigation, and the Tucson sector of CBP will coordinate with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to pursue all appropriate criminal charges.

The Tucson Sector covers much of Arizona, stretching approximately 262 miles from the New Mexico border to Yuma County’s border. The sector employs about 3,700 agents across nine stations, located in Why, Casa Grande, Douglas, Bisbee, Nogales, Sonoita, Tucson, Three Points, and Wilcox, according to CBP’s webpage dedicated to the sector. Originally known as the Nogales Sector, it was established on July 1, 1924, with the sector headquarters relocating to Tucson two years later.
