University of Arizona mourns passing of alumnus Congressman Raúl Grijalva

The University of Arizona has expressed sorrow over the death of Congressman Raúl Grijalva, a notable alumnus and respected leader. President Suresh Garimella stated, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva, a distinguished University of Arizona alumnus and respected leader."

Grijalva was recognized for his commitment to the university's land-grant mission and his dedication to public service at various levels. President Garimella highlighted Grijalva's enduring influence: "Congressman Grijalva's legacy is a testament to what it means to be a Wildcat for Life, leaving an indelible mark on Arizona and beyond, and inspiring others to lead with purpose and service."

Adriana Grijalva, the congressman's niece and current president of the Associated Students of the University of Arizona, reflects his dedication to advocacy as a student leader.

President Garimella concluded with condolences: "Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. His impact will endure for generations, shaping leaders, communities and the future of public service."
