FOIA Request to Pima County Elections Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

We at Tucson Standard, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have sent a request under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq. The request is for records of all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The specific details requested include each candidate's first, middle, and last name. We also asked for information about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. Additionally, we sought details about the party affiliation of each candidate.

To further our reporting efforts, we also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As members of the media, we believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Pima County Elections Office regarding this request.
