US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested 1,700 illegal migrants in the Tucson Sector during the week ending December 20. This information comes from a December 24 post on X by Chief Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin.
According to CBP, agents in the Tucson Sector disrupted 20 human smuggling events, rescued 14 people, and made three significant arrests during the same period. There were also 240 federal criminal cases accepted that week, and agents disrupted eight narcotics events.
The Tucson Sector covers much of Arizona, stretching from the border of New Mexico to Yuma County's border, approximately 262 miles along the border. There are about 3,700 agents across nine stations within this sector. These stations are located in Why, Casa Grande, Douglas, Bisbee, Nogales, Sonoita, Tucson, Three Points, and Wilcox, Arizona. Originally known as the Nogales Sector and established on July 1, 1924, the sector headquarters moved to Tucson two years later.
