The University of Arizona recently hosted a delegation from the Confederation of Indian Private Universities (CIPU) for an academic exchange. The event, held from November 14 to 16, highlighted the university's focus on fostering global partnerships.
University President Suresh Garimella, who also chairs the CIPU International Advisory Council, welcomed the delegation alongside Jenny Lee, Vice President for Arizona International and Dean of International Education, and Caleb Simmons, Executive Director of Online Education.
"This visit is just the beginning," Garimella stated. "I've been proud to serve on this council, and I'm a longtime believer in the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions. I'm pleased to see the University of Arizona shares this commitment, which promises to create greater opportunities as we strengthen global connections and work toward shared academic goals."
CIPU represents over 70 leading private universities in India and collaborates with governments and educational leaders to shape higher education policy.
During their visit, delegates engaged in presentations, discussions, and campus tours. The two-day program began with a welcome breakfast with Garimella and included sessions on various topics such as global partnerships at U of A, governance, research excellence, strategic budgeting, technology in education, faculty development, and student success.
Additionally, attendees toured key facilities like the Applied Research Building and Richard F. Caris Mirror Laboratory. They also had the chance to watch a football game between U of A and the University of Houston.
