A child from Tucson's Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program has been recognized as one of the 12 winners in the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials' (NAHRO) "What a Home Means to Me" poster contest. The artwork, created by 14-year-old Halo, will be featured in NAHRO's 2025 calendar.

The national contest highlights art from children living in affordable housing and captures their thoughts on what home represents. These expressions underscore the significant contributions of public housing and community development professionals. This initiative is part of the Housing America public awareness campaign, which aims to increase national understanding of the need for safe, quality, affordable housing through education, advocacy, and empowerment.

The Family Self-Sufficiency program under Housing and Community Development assists low-income households receiving government aid. It helps participants develop a five-year action plan with caseworkers to achieve goals such as continuing education, increasing earning potential, and saving money.
