A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County, Illinois on September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
We requested records of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until the date of the request. Specifically, we asked for details including the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will contribute significantly towards ensuring accountability in how county funds are utilized.
We have also indicated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information to the public. We eagerly await a response from Dekalb County as we continue our work in bringing light to important local governmental affairs.
