During fiscal year 2024 to date, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has arrested 38,473 illegal aliens who have previous criminal convictions or who are wanted by law enforcement.

That’s according to an analysis of CBP Data conducted by Tucson Standard.

14,760 of these arrests have been made by the U.S. Border Patrol, and 23,713 of these arrests have been made by the CBP’s Office of Field Operations. The CBP’s 2024 fiscal year runs from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024.

John R. Modlin, U.S. Border Patrol’s chief patrol agent in the Tucson Sector, regularly posts on X reports of arrests of these illegal alien encounters.

"Luis Mendez-Pinto, a registered sex offender and convicted felon, was arrested by USBP agents near Sells, AZ," Modlin wrote on X on July 30. "The Guatemalan national was previously convicted for sexual abuse in the first degree-victim under 13 in NewYork."

"He faces prosecution for illegal re-entry," he reported.

Modlin joined the US Border Patrol in 1995 and has since worked in a variety of positions in the San Diego Sector, Detroit Sector, Miami Sector, and several posts on either coast.

"Over 100 lbs. of fentanyl pills, meth, and fentanyl powder were seized at the I-19 Checkpoint," Modlin posted on July 19. "A USBP K9 alert led to the discovery of 73 packages containing the narcotics while in secondary inspection. The case was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations."
