TUCSON – On July 10, 2024, Mayor Regina Romero and City Manager Michael Thomure announced the receipt of an $11.38 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The funding aims to enhance public transportation infrastructure within the city.

"This grant is a significant step forward for Tucson's transit system," said Mayor Romero. "It will allow us to improve services and provide better access for our residents."

City Manager Thomure echoed the mayor's sentiments, emphasizing the potential benefits for the community. "With this funding, we can make critical upgrades that will positively impact daily commuters and promote sustainable transportation options."

The grant is part of a broader initiative by the FTA to support urban transit systems across the United States. It is expected that these funds will be used for various projects, including upgrading bus fleets and enhancing transit facilities.
