There were 14,534 students enrolled in Sunnyside Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.1% less than the 14,544 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Latino, representing 89.8% of the Sunnyside Unified District total enrollment.

Sunnyside Unified District roughly covers schools within Pima County and has a main office in Tucson.

Among the 22 schools in Sunnyside Unified District, Sunnyside High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,205 students in the 2022-23 school year.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.
