WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, will bring $7 million back to his district in the committee’s latest funding packages. The money was allocated through the Commerce, Justice, and Science legislation and the Interior and Environment bill. In total, Ciscomani secured $27 million for Arizona’s 6th District in this year’s appropriations process.
“From emergency radios to clean water, I’m working to ensure these federal funds are strengthening communities across our district,” said Ciscomani. “I’m excited to announce that we’ve funded projects in all five counties in Arizona’s 6th District and leveraged my position on the House Appropriations Committee to make our tax dollars come back to our communities.”
Congressman Ciscomani secured $3.57 million in the Commerce, Justice, and Science package:
- $3.5 million for Pima County’s Wireless Integrated Network Radio Replacement: This funding will be used to replace nearly 500 portable radios, which are used by more than 60 public safety and public service agencies.
- $70,000 for the Town of Marana for a 3D Scanner for Crime Scene Documentation: This money will purchase a 3D scanner to assist with the documentation and successful prosecution of violent crime scenes by recording the scene in diagram form.
- $2.25 million to the City of Tucson for the Randolph Park PFAS Project: This money will allow the city to construct a new well and treatment facility for groundwater at Randolph Park.
- $1.25 million for the City of Tucson for Shirley C. Scott Southeast Houghton Area Recharge Project (SHARP) Expansion Project: This funding will add a fourth basin and expand recharge capacity to 8,000 acre-feet per year to provide a reliable source of water in the area.
- $14.5 million in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) bill.
- $1.8 million allocated under the Energy and Water package.
- $3.1 million in Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) legislation.
