WASHINGTON – On July 6, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) released the following statement:

“I sincerely welcome Vice President Kamala Harris to Arizona and commend her and the Biden administration for their leadership and prioritization of Tribal Nations. The Biden-Harris administration has made significant efforts to honor Tribal sovereignty, uphold federal trust and treaty responsibilities, protect Tribal sacred sites, and invest in Native and Tribal communities.”

“Thanks to Congressional Democrats, actions led by the Natural Resources Committee, and the Biden-Harris administration’s economic agenda, we have seen record levels of funding specifically for Tribal communities and Native people in Arizona and across the country. Democrats passed $13 billion in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and $700 million in Inflation Reduction Act to address the impacts of climate change, build sustainable and affordable housing and infrastructure, close the digital divide, and improve access to critical services like food assistance, job training and health care.”

“We look forward to building on our shared progress that will enable Tribes in Arizona and across the nation to prosper and make certain that Tribal leaders and their citizens will thrive for generations to come.”
