WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) today released the following statement after voting in favor of the Limit, Save, Grow Act, House Republicans’ legislation to raise the debt ceiling. The bill raises the debt ceiling until March 31, 2024, or up to a maximum of $1.5 trillion.
“Our federal government should be funded responsibly while addressing Washington’s out of control spending. This should be done in good-faith discussions from all sides but sadly, President Biden has chosen not to participate in those negotiations.
“House Republicans have stepped up and offered a plan – the only concrete one on the table. While the bill may not be perfect, it’s a solid foundation for a starting point and I supported it. However, make no mistake, this bill does not, in any way, cut Social Security, Medicare, or veteran benefits – otherwise, I would not have supported it. The false and dishonest narrative suggesting it does undermines the work being done to move forward in the best interest of our country.”
The congressman is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
