Members of the Tucson Fire Wildland team recently returned from a deployment in Santa Barbara County.
The team covered for US Forest Service personnel, manning Station 41 along San Marcos Pass high above Santa Barbara in Los Padres National Forest.
They also spent time learning about fuel types, analyzing vegetation to determine wildfire potential, and even met with local homeowners to become familiar with the area and their unique fire challenges.
The team also focused on hose lays, weather calculations and radio training.
