Tucson Parks and Recreation has been awarded a $25,000 grant from PetSafe to build a new dog park at Lincoln Park, which will feature a water spray and giant obstacle course.

“Pet water fountains, trees, shade structures and other play equipment will be added to truly make this dog park one-of-a-kind,” Ward 4 Council Member Nikki Lee said, according to Kgun9. “This grant will help make this community’s dog park dreams come true.”

Tucson was one of nine cities chosen to receive a grant through PetSafe’s 2022 Bark for Your Park contest.

“We’ve seen an outpouring of support throughout our grant contest this year, and it has been fun to follow along as community members pursue a space where dogs are welcome,” PetSafe brand manager Jessie Nixon said, according to a press release. “PetSafe is committed to creating safe, off-leash areas for pets and pet parents to enjoy for years to come, and we wanted the final decision to be made by the people using those parks each day. Congratulations to all winners!”

More than 120,000 votes were cast for communities to win funds to either create a new park or make improvements to an existing one, the release states.

“A HUGE thank you to everyone who voted throughout August!” Tucson Parks and Rec wrote in a Sept. 2 Twitter post.
