A new playground with integrated shade is now open at Mesa Village Park, 5700 E. 18th St., and Gene C. Reid Park, near the entrance off of 22nd Street. A third playground has opened at Harriet Johnson Park, 6051 E. 25th St., with a shade structure to be built in the next few months.
These playgrounds were made possible through 2018 voter-approved bond funds. Follow the link below for progress on the voter-approved Tucson Delivers-Proposition 407: Parks + Connections Bond program. The 2019-2028 program provides $225 million to improve City park amenities, including playgrounds, sports fields, pools, and splash pads. Connection projects include greenways, shared-use paths, pedestrian safety and walkability, and bicycle boulevards.
