Tucson's Mayor and Council will hold a public hearing tonight, May 19, during the 5:30 p.m. Regular Session, about its intention to raise primary property taxes over last year’s level. The City is proposing an increase of primary property taxes of $21,791,530. For example, this proposed tax increase will cause the City of Tucson’s total primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to increase from $44.30 to $52.44. This proposed increase is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The increase is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter-approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides. Tonight's public hearing will be held at City Hall Council Chambers, 255 W. Alameda St. A livestream of the meeting will be on the City's YouTube channel linked below.
