Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd announced that Filip Borovicanin (Belgrade, Serbia) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats as a freshman for the 2022-23 season.
"Filip is a tremendous young man from a great family in Serbia," Lloyd said. "He's a skilled player with tremendous potential moving forward. We are excited to get him in an Arizona uniform and look forward to his development as a Wildcat."
Borovicanin most recently played for KK Beko in his hometown of Belgrade, where he averaged 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists while leading his team to the league championship during the 2021-22 season.
Other career highlights include an outstanding performance at the European Youth Basketball League U16 CE Tournament when he averaged 34.6 points per game and was named tournament MVP. He also averaged 18.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in the tournament.
The most recent member of the Arizona men's basketball program from Serbia was Dusan Ristic, who played for the Wildcats from 2014-18.
Arizona now has two student-athletes signed to join the program for the 2022-23 season with Borovicanin and Dylan Anderson from Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona.
