Linton Named Second Team All-American by WCGA

Gym

For the first time in her career, Sirena Linton has been named a WCGA second team All-American on the balance beam, announced on Thursday.

"Sirena has been extremely consistent on balance beam all year," said assistant coach Taylor Spears, who coaches beam. "Her consistency and attention to detail led her to an opportunity to compete at Nationals. It was amazing to see her cease the opportunity and leave it all on the floor. I'm very proud of her and her accomplishments."

The junior from South Phoenix, Ariz. has had a breakout season on beam. Linton has been Arizona's anchor on beam for the entire 2022 season and has posted a 9.825 or higher in every meet on the event. She posted a career best 9.925 three times, including at the NCAA Norman Regional Semifinal to finish in first place in the second session and qualify to the NCAA Championships as an individual competitor. At the NCAA Championship, Linton post a 9.9125 in the first session to finish in a tie for seventh place.

"I could not be more excited for Sirena to end her season as an All-American," said head coach John Court. "She earned it by competing at the highest level and on the biggest stage in our sport. It's great for her and for Arizona gymnastics."

Linton's multiple 9.925s on beam is ranked in the top-10 in Arizona gymnastics history for individual scores on the event. She is the ninth ever GymCat to earn WCGA All-American honors, and the third to earn All-American on the balance beam.
