The Wildcats honored their senior Khim Iglupas, Kirsten Prelle and Salma Ziouti in today's last home match against No. 12 California. Arizona lost its fifth Pac-12 conference match 7-0 against the Bears.
Lexi Ryngler and Kayla Wilkins dropped their doubles match 1-6 to the No. 29 ranked doubles pair Jessica Alsola and Katja Wiersholm. Graduating senior pair Salma Ziouti and Kirsten Prelle defeated the No. 35 ranked doubles pair Haley Giavara and Valentina Ivanov 6-3.
Belen Nevenhoven and Kayla Meraz fought every second of their match against Julia Rosenqvist and Erin Richardson before ultimately losing 6-7(6-8).
It was a hard fought battle in singles play that saw Cal walk away with all six of the points. Ziouti dropped her first set against the No. 101 ranked player Haley Giavara 4-6, but came back to win the second set 6-4. The match was determined by a 10-point tiebreak in which Giavara beat Ziouti 12-10.
The women will finish out the regular season on the road with three more matches coming up: Utah on Friday, April 8, Colorado on Sunday, April 10, and Arizona State on Saturday, April 16.
