Arizona Men's Golf closed out the final day of the NIT at 26-under with Christian Banke's runner-up finish highlighting the weekend. The Wildcats' opened the tournament on Friday at 11-under, giving them their best round in the annual event since 2018. The Cats went six-under on Saturday to give the team a fifth place finish.
Banke shot a team low 67 (-5), following up his back-to-back rounds of 67 on Friday. He had six birdies, the most of anybody else on the team. He finished the tournament 15-under, placing second behind Oklahoma State's Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra.
"Christian capped a great week with another quality round and hats off to him for earning a runner-up finish," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We had some good scores for much of final round, but weren't able to capitalize on as many of our scoring opportunities as we would have liked. Overall, we had a good week here at home and continued our strong spring season."
Chase Sienkiewicz finished four under par with a final-round score of 70 to give Arizona a second top-25 finisher. The junior birdied three straight holes on the back nine to close out his round.
Next up, the Wildcats will head to Santa Cruz, Calif. to compete in the Western Intercollegiate tournament April 11-13.
